Screenshot Analysis

The Sims 2 has brought up many questions about how it will work and what it will do. SimGlobal has taken a look at some of the screenshots released to the public and has made some observations about the game. While there is no guarantee about any of the theories presented, they still are valid theories about The Sims 2, and are based on reasoning and observation. Click in the red boxes to see what we've figured out about each specific topic.

The Lawn Chair: It seems as though The Sims 2 will include new ways to relax. Do you want to enjoy nature, while still being right next to that cooling pool? Well, in The Sims 2, it looks like you'll be able to sit outside in a brand-new wooden lawn chair! Gone are those upholstered chairs that looked so tacky outside, and in are the stylish wooden lawn chairs!

It's raining!: Has your Sim ever been bored on a rainy day? Probably not, because The Sims didn't have weather. However, weather is an important part of The Sims 2, as this screenshot shows. Though the drops are hard to see, we have enhanced a small portion of the screenshot that shows two lonely raindrops falling by the hot tub.

Yow!: Have you or one of your loved ones ever been struck by lightening? Maybe. Has one of your sims ever been struck? Probably not. But, just like rain, The Sims 2 has added that little special effect known as lightening. It seems that electrocution and getting struck will have the same effect on a sim (after all, electricity is electricity). The animation for an electrocuted sim seems to be the same as in The Sims-the unfortunate fellow will suddenly get a shock, glow blue, and have his skeleton visible for a few seconds. Also, the lightening seems to have an effect on the hot tub water. The normal hot tub water is much calmer than the one after the lightening strike.

Nice fence: It seems as though The Sims 2 will certainly have many more options for fences and the like. Notice the deck has a very nice wooden fence around it. The opening in the fence looks natural and intended, showing how smooth the graphics are and how well done the objects and other graphics are. Unlike in The Sims, the hole in the fence in this screenshot looks almost like an object unto itself, without the unnatural ending of the fences in The Sims.
